Natural fibres deserve natural care. Mohair and wool are known for their softness, warmth and durability, but they need a little extra attention to keep their exceptional qualities. Discover how to care for your garments and enjoy their beauty for many years to come.

Dutch care guide

Mohair

Mohair comes from the Angora goat and is naturally breathable with self-cleaning properties. This means it rarely needs to be washed; often, simply airing it out is enough. With the right care, mohair will last for many years.

01.

Air regularly

Hang the garment outside overnight or steam it briefly from a distance. This helps remove odours and keeps the fibres fresh without washing.

02.

Protect the fibre

Avoid friction with rough fabrics, belts, backpacks, and metal accessories. Mohair is strong, but fine fibres can be sensitive to continuous contact.

03.

Hand wash only

No washing machine, no tumble dryer. Hand wash in lukewarm water is the only safe option, followed by flat drying on a towel.

Washing

01. Fill a sink or bowl with lukewarm water. Never use hot water, as heat can cause the fibres to shrink and felt.

02. Add a small amount of a special wool or mohair detergent, or use a mild baby shampoo with a neutral pH.

03. Gently submerge the garment and move it carefully to distribute the detergent evenly.

04. Lightly knead the garment, similar to working with dough. Never wring, twist, or pull the fabric.

05. Drain the water. Refill with clean, lukewarm water and gently press the garment to rinse.

06. Remove excess water by laying the garment flat on a dry towel, rolling it up, and gently pressing it.

Only clean when truly necessary. Mohair has natural self-cleaning properties, so airing it out is often enough.

Drying

01.

Lay the garment flat to dry on a clean drying rack or towel. Never hang it, as the weight of the garment can cause it to stretch out of shape.

02.

Choose a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators.

03.

A tumble dryer is strictly prohibited. Heat can irreversibly damage the delicate fibres.

Pilling

  • Over time, small pills or loose fibres may appear in areas with frequent friction, such as under the arms or on the back.

  • Remove them gently with a soft clothes brush or a special wool comb, always working in the direction of the fibres.

  • Never use a razor or sharp object, as this can permanently damage the structure of the garment.

Pilling is a natural process and a sign that you are wearing a genuine natural fibre product.

Clean storage

  • Make sure the garment is completely clean and dry before storing it. Moths are attracted to traces of sweat and food residues.

  • Use cedar wood or lavender oil as a natural moth repellent. Avoid chemical products that may damage the fibres.

  • Fold your mohair garment neatly and store it in a breathable storage bag. Hanging it can cause the garment to stretch and lose its shape.

Wool

Soft, warm and timeless: wool is one of nature’s most remarkable fibres. Its strength lies in its natural properties: wool is breathable, regulates temperature, retains its shape, and offers a familiar sense of comfort season after season.

01.

Lucht regelmatig
